Parking in central Granada and the low emission zone
Granada is best explored on foot, but if you are driving it pays to plan where to leave the car. These are the rules that apply in the centre, and our recommendations.
The low emission zone
Granada has a low emission zone (ZBE) covering almost the whole city. Since 1 October 2025, vehicles without a Spanish DGT environmental label that are not registered in Granada may not enter.
- Vehicles with a Zero, ECO, C or B label may enter.
- If your car has no label, or is registered outside Spain, check the conditions on Granada City Council’s website before you travel.
- Access is monitored by number-plate recognition cameras.
Restricted-access streets
On top of the ZBE, several parts of the historic centre, such as the Albaicín and the Realejo, have camera-controlled restricted-access streets. Do not enter streets with the restricted-access sign, and follow the signs to the public car parks.
Where to park
The palace has no garage, and finding a space on the street in the centre is almost impossible. You have two options:
- The spaces we recommend: your arrival instructions include two nearby spaces.
- Public pay car parks: there are several underground car parks a few minutes’ walk away, such as Puerta Real and San Agustín. Check their rates beforehand, as they vary with the length of stay.
Getting around without a car
From the palace you can walk to the Cathedral, Gran Vía, the Albaicín and Plaza Nueva. City minibuses from the centre go up to the Alhambra, the upper Albaicín and the Sacromonte. See How to visit the Alhambra: tickets, opening hours and getting there and What to see in Granada on foot from the city centre.
